Local Bloom | A Behind-the-Scenes Mini Session with Chattanooga Florist Fox & Fern

Behind the Scenes with Chattanooga Florist Fox & Fern

A behind-the-scenes moment at Chattanooga's Favorite Florist - Fox & Fern

Last week, I wrapped up a branding session just across the street when something pulled me in—literally. It was sunshine pouring through the windows, a pop of green, and the kind of stillness that only exists in spaces filled with fresh flowers and people who know how to love them well.

Overhead shot of a lush, hand-tied bouquet featuring roses, hydrangeas, thistle, and seasonal blooms—created inside Fox & Fern’s storefront, located in Chattanooga's famous West Village neighborhood, where their signature luxury wedding style begins.
Fox & Fern may be known for luxury weddings, but don’t let that fool you—this cozy little shop in Chattanooga’s West Village is where the magic is made. Bouquets like this? Born right behind the counter, surrounded by coffee, good music, and people who get it.

So, like any good creative on a mission of joy... I snuck in.

No appointment. No agenda. Just my camera in hand and that little pull in my chest that said: there’s beauty here—go capture it.

Fox & Fern is the kind of shop that doesn't need a spotlight. The spotlight finds them!! Years of client-focused floral designs have given them a chance to tell stories in stems. They are experts at playing with texture and creating an experience for their clients that feels sacred.

Four-panel collage of vibrant flowers at Fox & Fern: red tulips and carnations, purple statice, pale pink waxflowers with lavender sprigs, and bright orange butterfly weed in black buckets.
From fiery reds to whispering pinks, their cooler is a living mood board. Texture, tone, and a little floral drama — this is storytelling in bloom. 🌺

There’s something holy about watching someone build beauty from nature. These bouquets weren’t staged. They were becoming. Just like the people behind them. I've felt a call lately to get back to the simple nature of things, so to document this beautiful bouquet in its beginning stages was lovely.

Owner Liza, doing what she does best — crafting moments from petals and patience. No fluff. No filters. Just hands, heart, and a table full of blooms.

I didn’t ask anyone to pause. I didn’t rearrange a single thing. This was their rhythm. Their ritual. The dance of globally sourced flowers meeting local hands. True art in motion!

Proof that floristry is a love language. ✨ This bouquet didn’t need staging — just the right hands, the right day, and a little purple poetry.

This shop doesn’t just sell flowers. It sells pause. It sells grace. It sells what most of us are desperate to find when we open our doors at the end of a long week: something lovely. Something alive. Something rooted in love.

Even their filler flowers could lead a main character arc.

From houseplants to hand-poured soap, from wild bouquets to intentional gifts — there’s something deeply rooted here.

It’s not just about flowers. It’s about presence. Whether it’s a fresh-cut bouquet, a potted plant, or soap that smells like calm — everything here is chosen with heart.

What struck me most during my time at Fox & Fern wasn’t just the beauty of the bouquets or the way Liza worked with such fluidity and grace. It was the space itself.

Somewhere between vintage charm and modern magic. Even the storage shelves at Fox & Fern feel like part of the story — dried stems hanging like relics, trailing vines refusing to be tamed.

Even the walls feel intentional — draped in greenery, wrapped in warmth. You can sense that it’s not just a shop; it’s a living thing. One with roots and stories and texture. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to linger a little longer, maybe buy a plant you didn’t come in for, and reimagine what your own corner of the world could feel like.

Blush roses, kissed by time. Their petals curl like love letters — quiet, imperfect, and expertly curated.

And the details? Don’t even get me started. From the curly green mums and feathery thistles tucked behind the counter to the sepia-toned still life of tools and textures, it’s all a part of the ritual. It’s the kind of mess that only happens when something meaningful is being made.

The backdrop to the magic. You walk in for flowers… and suddenly want to redesign your entire living room around this wall.

No moment felt too polished. Nothing was curated for content. It was just a normal workday at a not-so-normal flower shop, where ordinary things are regularly transformed into unforgettable ones.

And that — that’s what makes it special.

The behind-the-scenes moments that never make the bouquet—but always make the story.

So whether you're planning a wedding, picking up a little plant for your windowsill, or just looking for something that reminds you beauty is still real...you’ll find it here.

✨ So, go visit my friends at Fox and Fern in Downtown Chattanooga!

They don't need to know you're coming... Just tell them I sent you!

(And tell them I sent you — even if they didn’t know I was coming either.)
