An Intimate Candlelit Wedding at Ridge Rose Venue Wedding in North Georgia
If you’ve come across my website or social media headers anytime since September of 2023, chances are you’ve already seen Brea and Butler. Their exit from their wedding at Ridge Rose Venue is still one of my absolute favorites. When I first saw that moment on the back of my camera, I remember thinking it looked like something straight out of a magazine and that I had captured the kind of effortless joy that makes a photograph feel timeless.

But what I remember most about their wedding day isn’t just how beautiful everything looked.
What stayed with me was how it all FELT. B+B were intentional about designing a day full of care for the people they love. From the moment guests began arriving, the atmosphere felt calm, welcoming, and full of warmth. Instead of waiting hours to see the couple, Butler stood there waiting for guests as they arrived with his familiar million-dollar smile and open arms. TRULY the best welcome to a wedding I have ever witnessed.

Friends greeted each other with long hugs, family members lingered in conversation, and there was a quiet sense that everyone there truly mattered to the couple. No invitation felt like an afterthought.

Ridge Rose Venue provided the perfect setting for their celebration.

Nestled in the mountains of North Georgia, the property feels peaceful and tucked away, with ceremony views that stretch out over the trees and reception spaces that glow warmly as the evening sets in. The team at Ramblewood Events designed the day beautifully, blending elegant florals with the natural surroundings in a way that felt both timeless and relaxed.

Every detail of the day felt thoughtful without ever feeling overdone, which is the kind of balance that lets the people and the moments remain the focus.

Before the ceremony began, the property slowly filled with the people who have shaped Brea and Butler’s lives.

Inside the house, the morning felt calm and unhurried as Brea finished getting ready surrounded by one furry being, in particular, that's quite important to her.

One of the things I loved most about their ceremony was how personal and relaxed it felt. I will never forget them walking out to "Cherish" by Kool & The Gang and thinking, "Okay... These are clients who must turn into friends."

Standing beneath a floral arch overlooking the mountains, Brea and Butler exchanged vows surrounded by family and friends in a ceremony performed by the Groom's brother while the couple's dog rested quietly nearby.

It was simple, heartfelt, and full of the kind of emotion that makes you feel like you’re witnessing something deeply meaningful rather than just watching an event unfold. Moments like that are exactly why I love photographing weddings. I get to stand quietly in the background as a storyteller documenting the very beginning of a new family. It’s something that matters deeply to me, because I live the importance of marriage every day of my own life.

Moments like that are why I love documenting weddings the way I do.

As soon as the ceremony ended, the celebration truly began.

Guests gathered around the couple for hugs and congratulations, laughter filled the air, and the entire energy of the day shifted from anticipation to pure joy. Some of my favorite photographs from the day happened right then. What I really loved about this wedding, in particular, is that the joy from the ceremony felt as if it just spilled over the entire day. They both laughed the whole way through their ceremony, and I can't help but think that's how they go through life... and it makes me so very happy. :)

Before the evening celebration began, we stepped aside for a few family portraits, and this part of the day ended up being one of my favorites. Family photos at weddings sometimes get treated like a checklist, but B+B understood something really special: when multiple generations come together in one place, those moments deserve a little space to breathe.

Instead of rushing through the portraits, we gave everyone a little space to interact with each other, and that’s when the magic moments started happening.... And those moments make photographs feel alive.

Some of my favorite images from this part of the day came from simply letting people move, laugh, and be themselves. I find that people often skip over the family photos when they talk about their favorite moments from the day, but these… They make me emotional, even years later, because you can actually feel the relationships inside the frame. And that’s what family photographs should really be about.

As the evening moved into the reception, candlelight filled the room and the celebration carried on inside.
Dinner conversations stretched across the tables, music drifted through the space, and the night slowly turned into dancing and laughter under warm lights. One of the things I remember most, aside from an actual bread tower, was the sound of conversation buzzing throughout the room. My goal was to photograph the same energy I felt that evening - relaxed, joyful, and full of connection. It was the kind of reception where people linger simply because they don’t want the night to end.

But I should also mention the moment I almost had a heart attack, which was when I was surprised by the child hiding underneath the cake table. Luckily, no cake was harmed, and the child's mother laughed about it after explaining to not do it again. (But oh, how I laughed once I realized everything was fine!)

Later in the evening, Brea and Butler stepped outside beneath the string lights for a quiet moment together.

It’s always one of my favorite parts of a wedding day — when the celebration softens and the couple finally gets a moment to breathe together after everything that has happened. I'm a strong advocate for a private last dance or even just a small, simple moment like this at the end of your wedding day.

The laughter keeps going, the music keeps playing, and the night keeps moving. But every now and then, they find each other in the middle of it all... And I have a feeling it always will be for these two.
As time goes on, I can see that there are some stylistic changes I've made, especially in editing and light, that I've made in the last four years, but there are a few that I say are 10/10 - no notes, and this is definitely one of them...

And the story continues...
Perhaps my greatest flex as a wedding photographer is when couples become friends long after the wedding day. As I was writing this blog, Brea texted me to share that they’re expecting which means maternity photos are officially on the horizon. I couldn’t be more excited for them. My first thought was this photo right here, and I absolutely cannot wait to watch B+B step into their parent era. Love you both!!
