Frequently Asked Questions
Finding the right wedding photographer can be overwhelming. There are so many options, and this is a once in a lifetime moment. I have gathered some of the questions I have been asked most often during consultations to help you decide sooner if I am the right fit as your wedding photographer. Serving you well on your wedding day is something I am super passionate about, and if you think I'm the one, hopefully this list will confirm it for you!

HOW FAR AHEAD SHOULD WE BOOK YOU? | I am always booking 18 months in advance. Couples usually book their photographer immediately after securing their venue. Most of my couples book 8-12 months in advance, but I photographed a wedding with 28 hours/ notice so when in doubt, reach out! You never know when there may be a random opening in my schedule!
DO YOU ALLOW PAYMENT PLANS? | Absolutely! The vast majority of my clients make payments on their wedding photography.
WHAT DO YOU REQUIRE TO BOOK? | I require a 20% retainer and signed contract to secure your wedding date + plan your engagement session.
HOW DO WE BOOK YOU? | Step one. Click the "Connect" tab and send me an inquiry! I will double check that I am available for your date, and we will schedule a phone consultation to see if we may be a good fit!

HOW MUCH DO YOU CHARGE? | Please see the Weddings tab for more detailed information on pricing. Pricing for full wedding coverage begins at $3,900, and most of my clients spend around $5,600-$7,800 for full wedding day photography coverage, which generally includes full day wedding coverage with at least one photographer, an optional second shooter for at least a portion of the day, a full digital gallery of professionally edited + high resolution images, and an engagement session. All weddings include a full digital gallery of professionally edited + high resolution images.
HOW DO WE PAY YOU? | I send all of my contracts and invoices electronically, and you can pay online easily and securely. I also can accept payment through PayPal, Venmo, or credit card.
DO YOU DO ENGAGEMENT SESSIONS? | Yes! They are great to help us get to know one another and make you feel more comfortable for wedding day photos. They also come in handy for save the dates, wedding websites, and wedding décor.
SHOULD WE HIRE A SECOND SHOOTER? | I am completely confident in shooting a wedding on my own (and have many times). However, having a second shooter has been invaluable to me on wedding days in so many situations. I highly recommend hiring a second shooter. I have an entire team of second shooters who work with me regularly, and I will schedule one of them to work alongside me for your wedding day if you choose to add this option onto your wedding collection.
SHOULD WE HAVE A FIRST LOOK? | I LOVE a First Look. However, if you decide that a First Look is not for you, I will NOT pressure you. As your photographer, it is my job to educate you on why First Looks are helpful during your wedding day and let you make the best decision for you two as a couple. I have done weddings both with and without First Looks with happy clients all around, but it is my personal preference as your photographer to have a First Look.
DO YOU TRAVEL? | Yes! I am ALWAYS ready for an adventure. Mountains? Sea? Abroad? Passport + carry-on are always ready. All long distance wedding quotes are done on an individual basis and will include travel, accommodations, and reasonable per diem.
WHEN DO WE GET OUR PHOTOS? | You will receive a sneak peek within two weeks from your wedding. The sneak peek is a highlight reel of some of my favorite images from your wedding. Your full wedding gallery will be delivered within 2-3 months from your wedding date. While my editing process takes a considerable amount of time, I process each individual image, and that simply takes time. :)
HOW DO YOU DELIVER OUR PHOTOS? | You will receive an email with your gallery link, custom password for viewing, and PIN for downloading. You will be able to download your gallery in both web size (for social media uploading) and high resolution (for printing).
DO YOU SELL ALBUMS + PRINTS? | I do! You will be able to order professional prints and select wall art directly through your online gallery. Additionally, I offer custom print products such as wedding albums and specialty wall art.
HOW MANY PHOTOS DO WE GET? | Guaranteed number of images depends on how many hours of coverage you purchase, but you will receive literally hundreds of photos. I average around 50-70 images per hour of shooting.
DO YOU PHOTOGRAPH SAME SEX COUPLES/WEDDINGS? | YES! Whatever your love looks like, I love to see it. ALL are welcome here. I am proud to be an ally and will treat your love story with respect, honor, kindness, and pride.

DO YOU PHOTOGRAPH ALTERNATIVE WEDDINGS? | Are your plans a little out of the box? I plan styled shoots, because I love doing stuff a little bold, a little extra, and a little different. Hit me with your crazy. I can handle it!
DO YOU HAVE A FULL GALLERY YOU CAN SHOW US? | Absolutely! In your inquiry, list your venue, and if I have a gallery specific to your venue, I'll send it! Also, feel free to spend some time on my website exploring galleries and follow me on Instagram at @iveyphoto.pie - I post often!
WHAT EQUIPMENT DO YOU USE? | I shoot using full frame Nikon mirrorless cameras with a variety of prime lenses, flashes, lighting gadgets, and backup batteries (LOTS OF THOSE!). My favorite lenses to use during weddings are my 35mm for both landscape shots + details and my 85mm for portraits and candids. I refer to my 85 as "my baby". It's my favorite. :)
DO WE TIP YOU? | Tipping is in no way required or expected, but when it happens, it's certainly a nice blessing and is incredibly appreciated. Tips aren't always money. Clients have surprised me with some beautiful gifts (many handmade!), and each of them have brought me so much gratitude and joy!
WHAT IS YOUR BACK UP PROCESS? | I shoot every wedding on two separate memory cards using one as a backup. I back up images to both a hard-drive and a cloud based storage system immediately after your wedding. I also never delete memory cards until your full wedding gallery is delivered. Upon delivery, your edited wedding gallery and raw images (unedited, straight from camera) are held in cloud based storage while your edited gallery is backed up on a hard drive, external hard drive, and cloud based storage. I guarantee storage of your entire wedding gallery for one calendar year from your wedding date.
DO WE FEED YOU? | Yes. Listen... There are not many foods that travel well in a camera pack, and this is a highly physical job, so holla at your girl and include me (and a second shooter if we have one) in the catering count. During a pre-determined, pre-planned, + well-timed break, I also change out my batteries and memory cards, switch out my shoes, and check on my kiddos. :)
I will be back + ready for all your reception highlights (in a new pair of shoes), and you won't even know I'm gone.
DO YOU DO SESSIONS OUTSIDE OF WEDDINGS? | Yes! Engagements, bridal, boudoir, family, branding, portraits, seniors... I do a lot outside of weddings! And while you're thinking about it... There is a lot of celebrating that goes on around your wedding that you may also want documented - bachelorette trips, bridal showers, bridal portraits, bridal boudoir, rehearsal dinner, snuggle sessions, maternity, and more! I love documenting my couples throughout their family journey beyond wedding day. We can discuss this during our connection call and build all those events into one package.
HOW MANY WEDDINGS HAVE YOU PHOTOGRAPHED? | At last count during spring 2023, I have photographed over 100 weddings! (I need to count again... BUT I HAVE BEEN BUSY!) And I still LOVE weddings!!!
DO YOU HELP US PLAN OUR DAY TO INCLUDE PHOTOS? | I create a timeline, usually in coordination with a wedding planner, to make sure we have a thorough plan to capture all the images your heart desires! "If you fail to plan, you plan to fail." You will receive a questionnaire from me that will help us collaborate on this - and it's all done easily online.
HEALTH + SAFETY | I have been a wedding photographer since 2018, and that includes the dreaded 2020 pandemic. I am ready to take any precautions necessary to make your day a safe, healthy, + happy one. If government regulations require that events be cancelled or postponed, I will honor your package on a new date. If I am unavailable, I will hire an associate shooter for your new event date + edit the photos in my signature editing style.
